MAG + MedPro:

The best malpractice solution for physicians in Georgia

Building on a legacy of advocacy, leadership & excellence

For 150+ years, the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) has been a strong and effective advocate for physicians in every specialty and practice setting in Georgia. MAG continually strives to find ways to create value for members, including innovative 401(k) and health insurance plans. Now, MAG is pleased to announce two new developments: the creation of Medical Association of Georgia Insurance Agency, LLC. (MAG Insurance Agency); and a new collaboration with MedPro Group — the nation’s largest and highest-rated healthcare liability insurance carrier — to provide industry-leading medical malpractice solutions for physicians in Georgia

The best working with the best!

The MAG Insurance Agency + MedPro program combines Georgia-focused leadership and advocacy with the nation’s unquestioned malpractice insurance leader. MAG members will receive the full benefit of MedPro’s premier coverage, including:

  • Unsurpassed financial strength: A++ (A.M. Best) and AA+ (Standard & Poor's)

  • Industry-leading claims expertise: 400,000+ claims since 1899; 90% national trial win rate, 80% of claims closed without payment

  • Pure consent provision gives providers control to refuse to settle a claim

  • Occurrence, Claims-made and Convert to Occurrence® coverage options

  • Cyber liability ($50,000) and data breach coverage included

  • Tail coverage upon retirement after just one year

“MAG always strives for excellence, and we expect the same mindset from our partners. Our members told us that they wanted MAG to develop a best-in-class medical malpractice solution, and after a thorough and exhaustive search for the best partner — one that is service-oriented and offers the best defense and the unmatched stability of the highest possible rating — MedPro was the clear and easy choice.”

Long-term value and stability

MAG Insurance Agency is proud to have the overwhelming support of the MAG’s Executive Committee/Board of Directors behind this program — but even more so that this partnership will result in the strongest and most stable professional liability program for our members. This collaboration isn’t based on savvy marketing or short-term savings offers; rather, to deliver stability, the industry’s strongest claims defense and long-term stable pricing in an increasingly turbulent marketplace.

Finally, MAG Insurance Agency will enable MAG to control its destiny. It will enable the organization to focus its advocacy efforts on the issues that matter to its dues-paying members, and it will be building equity in a company that has value and that helps to ensure MAG’s financial future.

The ultimate success of this program is contingent on the organization’s widespread support. Join us.

Won’t I lose my tail coverage if I switch to a MedPro/MAG Insurance Agency med-mal plan?

The majority of physicians who switch to a MedPro policy qualify for free tail coverage after they retire (if mature Claims-made) if they have been insured with MedPro for at least one year.

In order to qualify for a free tail, you must have a retroactive date at least 48 months prior to the date of retirement and be insured by the company for 12 months on a mature Claims-made policy. A.M. Best rating as of 6/16/2020. Standard & Poor’s rating as of 9/28/2020. All data is MedPro Group data; claims data range is 2010-2019 unless otherwise indicated.
